Library Cards
A borrower's card is available free to all New Hartford residents.
Residents of other towns may use the Licia & Mason Beekley
Community Library with a current card from their hometown library. A
Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library Card is good at any public
library in Connecticut. Books borrowed from other libraries may be
returned in this library, and New Hartford books may be returned at any
other Connecticut public library.
Children under the age of 14 must have a parent's signature for a
library card. We are glad to give a child of any age a library card.
Barkhamsted residents should register at the Beardsley Memorial Library
in Winsted. Please have your Beardsley Memorial card with you to borrow
books at The Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library, or any other
public library in Connecticut.
Loan Periods
Books, books on tape or compact disc, and music CDs may be borrowed for
three weeks; magazines, videos and DVDs may be borrowed for one week.
Renewals
Materials may be renewed over the telephone (379-7235) or at the
library. Materials may be renewed twice unless they are in demand. DVDs
may be renewed once.
Reserves
Any library material may be reserved at the library or by telephone
(379-7235). Patrons may have two items on reserve. The library staff
will need a telephone
number with an answering machine in order to notify you when the
reserved material comes in. One message and you
may then pick up the material by the end of the next library business
day.
Patrons can now
reserve books, music, and movies and
check their accounts from home using
our online catalogue.
Please
call the Library (379-7235) to find out how.
Fines
Items are due by closing time on the date stamped in the back. Fines
are calculated at a rate of 10 cents per day for the days we are open,
up to a maximum of $5.00 per item. Lost items are subject to
replacement charges.
